Admission into Diploma Programmes
The following Diploma programmes are being offered in Engineering and Technology both as Government Aided and Self-Supporting programmes. Usually, the applications will be issued from the Admission office of this institution in person and online during May / June every year.

Admission Process
- The polytechnic admits both boys and girls. Reservation will be made as per the norms prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Admission of students under All India Quota and Orthopedically Handicapped are being done under DOTE's special permission.

Application for Admission
- The Application form and Prospectus can be obtained on payment of Rs.150/- by means of Demand Draft drawn in favor of The Principal, Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Salem or by cash in the office. The applications will be issued free of cost for SC/ST candidates on submission of copy of the Community Certificate. The Application can also downloaded from the polytechnic website and may be submitted along with the DD for Rs. 150/-

Selection of Candidates
- Candidates are ranked on the basis of merit and reservation and called for counseling / admission on the above basis. The branches will be allotted on the basis of their ranks under the respective reservation quota and the availability of seats at the time of actual counseling / admission.
Higher Studies opening for Diploma holders
- As per the AICTE Approval Process Hand Book 2020-21 Vide Page 121 Item viii, the Diploma holders can join B.E. (Lateral Entry) in any discipline irrespective of branch studied in the Diploma programme.
